A study day on ‘Le romanesque dans Ecrire la vie d’Annie Ernaux’, organised by Florence de Challonge and François Dussart, took place on 29 Novembre 2019 at the University of Lille. The various talks included in the programme allowed for an exploration of a two-way movement at work in Ernaux’s writing: the influence of the ‘romanesque’ (novels, romance and invention) on the one hand, and her questioning of the traditional form of the novel, on the other.

Conference proceedings were published as a special issue of the journal Littérature: “Annie Ernaux: une écriture romanesque“.
